Nigeria is a big country. She has many states. The current number of states in Nigeria is thirty-six. Apart from these, there is Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, which is like a state too.

Nigeria has a lot to celebrate certain days and dates are very important to Nigerians. Some of these are worker’s day, celebrated on the 1st of May, children’s day, celebrated on the 27th of May,  Teacher’s day, celebrated on the 6th of June, Independence day on the 1st of October and Christmas day on the 25th of December.

Some dates are not fixed, examples are Id-el-Maolud and Id-el-fitri, Muslims celebrate these. Easter is also not fixed but celebrated around April by Christians. These are days celebrated with a lot of activities.
